24 Postcards in Full Motion

Art collaborative between Duluth cellist Kathy McTavish and Garrett D. Tiedemann.

Inspired by Max Richter's project 24 Postcards in Full Colour and the exhibition of films during the early 20th century in areas of amusement, 24 Postcards in Full Motion is a series of 24 short films. The intention was to exhibit the series as 24 individual kinetoscopes. Recognizing the digital creations of their origin; the films would be exhibited as such, but with a box erected to encase each film similarly to original kinetoscopes, allowing for individual immersion through the closing off of the eyes and ears. The arrangement of the installation would empower the audience to view the series in any order of their choosing.
